The new Felton Public Library is a new construction project for a replacement to the small existing library. It is located in the small hamlet of Felton, California, at the end of the Scott’s Valley. The land where the new library is situatated includes a park with a restored daylit creek, the creek formerly being mostly in ground in a culvert, overgrown with invasive species. Noll and Tam did the interiors scope of the new library, while Teall Messer was the prime AOR and did the exterior scope and consultant coordination. The interiors scope included laying out all the library stacks and the functional pieces of the library, Brittany was Project Manager on the team.
The interiors included a large dedicated section on for the Children’s portion of the library, including a custom bench / table along one wall. There is also a large fireplace that serves as a reading area in the adult section of the library. The finishes and detailing of the interiors received a large amount of care. The custom steel trusses were also a design feature that Brittany played a key role in. Along with the custom architectural detailing for stone firreplace, tile in the restrooms, wood finishes and flooring.
