Bernal Dwellings FF&E

BERNAL DWELLINGS FF&E

Bernal Dwellings Apartments in San Francisco is an existing 17 building, 160 unit affordable public housing complex that underwent a large scale renovation through the MOH-RAD Phase 4 program. Studio 144 & Studio Perez were hired for the FF&E portion by McCormack Baron Salazar Developers to provide interior finishes and furniture design the community spaces of the development. Saida Sullivan Design Partners was the prime architect of the renovation of the complex overall.

Studio 144 & Studio Perez held several rounds of client and user group feedback and information gathering sessions to find design solutions for the spaces that reflected the needs of the programs already on site. One of the main programs was a sewing class / residents sewing group that met regularly at the Resident Services space. Which is why the Resident Council office space also has sewing tables and sewing supplies storage along with their desk spaces. On the main Resident Council Multipurpose room they facilitate several exercise classes which is why we added the lockers and the mirrored wall. On all of the spaces we designed interiors for, our team procured the furniture and did the design and procurement of the new plants in the spaces. Proudly, all the office chairs are the Humanscale Smart Ocean chair, a product that uses recycled ocean fishing nets for the plastics, and is a Living Product Challenge Product. Last photo shows what the space was like before our design was implemented.

Samclar office furniture was the distributor for the project.
