This project is an entry upgrade for a small art and weaving studio business on the ground floor of a duplex in the Bernal Heights neighborhood of San Francisco. The existing awkward corner entry for the commercial space included a 2-way concrete warp to the lower street in front and the higher side street. It also did not have the required wheelchair clearance for maneuvering and too high of a threshold to actually get an accessible entrance. Studio 144 redesigned the entry to provide for a less than 2% slope access, sloped in only 1 direction, with a new custom planter to direct access to the accessible side of the triangular entry corner. The threshold was also lowered to provide an accessible entrance.
